Appliance repair service under Insurance Warranty

Do you need to repair an appliance that is still under an insurance warranty? If yes, then here is what you need to know. As a marketing strategy, several if not all manufacturers will have their products covered by a warranty for a given period of use. The majority of appliances have one year or two year warranty. However, there are some which will have a three to five year warranty, but very few. So, if you appliance breakdown while still under the warranty period, the good news is that you won’t have to cover the repair costs, as the manufacturer will have the product repaired or replaced under their costs.
In this case, all you will need to do is return to the point of purchase and present the purchase receipt and the warranty cover or in some cases, the receipt which bears the warranty notice. If all is order and you qualify for the warrant, then you simply sit back and have the appliance repaired or if the damage is beyond repair, have it replaced.
So, do you qualify for the warranty cover?
Interestingly, being still within the warrant cover period is not a guarantee that you qualify for the warranty cover benefits. The purpose of the warrant is to cover you from any manufacturer defects, the reason why the majority of warranty insurance covers will run for an average of a year and half. When you take your damaged appliance to the point of purchase, the first thing that is done is to inspect it for any disturbances. Any disturbances are a sign that you interfered with the product therefore the cause of breakdown is not necessarily due to manufacturer defects. In case there are tell-tell signs of interferences, then the most obvious result is that you will be turned back or made to cover the repair costs.
How do you avoid this? In case your appliance breaks down or malfunctions, it is advised that you don’t interfere with it like trying to open it. Interestingly, one of the things they look at to determine if you interfered with the appliance is marks on the screws. As long as you are sure you have followed the manual to the letter in setting up or operating the appliance, then simply take it to the seller and have it looked at.
What happens if the warrant period has expired? Sorry, but you can’t claim repair once the cover period has lapsed. However, it is understandable that the manufacturers repair services are the best and if you still want to enjoy their repair services, there is nothing withholding you. The majority of these repair firms still offer their services at a charge if you are not under warrant cover.
